In this post, we’ll guide you on how to install the new 2020 Windows 10 updates and other latest updates for other Windows versions; Windows 8/7/XP, etc.

Why Is Windows 10 2020 New Update Rolled Out?

This update for Windows 10 is one of the most important updates that has been rolled out in the 2020 year. Since we’re all working from home these days and there’s no IT guy available for us to handle our Windows issues. We all are on our own to face any Windows issue by ourselves and here Microsoft understood the problem and rolled out with this major update of Windows 10.

The major update that Microsoft rolled in is its Windows Health Release Dashboard update. This dashboard is specifically designed to avoid any file deletion while updating the windows. Since lots of file deletion errors have been coming after the October 2018 update, to avoid such issues Microsoft has done a great job by launching this update in 2020 so that the same issues will not happen again.

What’s New Features Rolled In The Windows 10 2020 Update?

As we already talked upon on a few above, lots of major updates and features are there in 2020 Windows 10 update directly focused on user’s interaction, performance, and seamless experience with non-stop working on this OS platform. Let’s see all of the below:

1. Can Do Quick Searches

Microsoft has included a few more options in the “search-box” to find out the accurate information right away as per your search intent. Let’s see what they are:

  • Top Trending News
  • History Today
  • Weather Updates
  • New Songs & Movies

It’s going to work like a mini search engine that is already built into your system. You don’t need to open a web browser to search for anything on the web. To jump on directly to the “Search Box” you can also use quick keys (Windows key + S) to open the search box on your Windows PC.

2. Now, Can Control your Updates

As we know, if you have enabled the auto-update feature, Windows updates automatically get starts anytime on your Windows laptops/PCs. But, with this updated feature, you can fully control your Windows updates like; what update you want to install and what to not. There’s a dashboard they designed just to control that part only. On this dashboard, you can see all your upcoming or pending updates there and can select manually as per your requirement what updates you want to install your Windows PC.

All you have to do just go to the “Search Box” down there on the taskbar, search for “Windows Updates”, tap on what comes first in the search results, and now you’ll see the dashboard containing all of the system updates information.

3. Say Hello to “Cortana Virtual Assistant”

As we already know SIRI, GOOGLE ASSISTANT, and ALEXA all are virtual assistants just to make our experience more easy and accurate. Likewise, Microsoft CORTANA is a virtual assistant designed by Microsoft itself, and this time they have integrated CORTANA in Windows 10 that is again a major or useful feature we would say.

In this Digital Assistant evolution, Microsoft comes a bit late with this feature for Windows OS but it’s worth it. This feature now allows you to command your Windows 10 PC by your voice and Cortana will handle all of your everyday tasks very easily-peasily.

Since Microsoft has unpinned the voice assistant Cortana from the taskbar menu, now you can freely drag it across your PC’s screen where you want to see it as a popped icon. This small update will definitely improve your workflow and experience with this Cortana update in Windows 10.

You have both the options to use Cortana; either you can command it by your voice or by typing on it to get work done. It allows you to set your work schedules on the calendar to get notified automatically about your work on time. Also, you can set your meetings, calls, emails, and more things to be more systematized as per your work calendar without any skipping of work or lined up meetings.

Though, there are few cons as well about this Cortana update. Like; as you can control your home smart LEDs, appliances, and more devices with Google Home or Alexa but in the Cortana case, it doesn’t allow you to control any of your home devices from your Windows 10 PC. Perhaps, this feature will also come in future updates but till the time you can just have the functionality to command Cortana over your windows PC only.

4. More Kaomoji in Windows 10

Well, kaomoji are the facial expressions like this; ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°). With this 2020 update, Microsoft has included more of them just to make your chats and email experiences more expressible. Let’s see a few of them:

  • ლ(╹◡╹ლ)
  • ಠ_ರೃ
  • ¯\_(ツ
  • (∩^o^)⊃━☆
  • ლ(╹◡╹ლ)

5. Upgraded Bluetooth Connectivity

In previous Windows versions, a pop-up notification used to come whenever there was a Bluetooth device detected nearby to your Windows PC. This feature used to save a few minutes to open the Bluetooth setting and adding a new device on your Windows PC. Now, this feature comes with new more updates to pair your devices more conveniently.

For example, that notification comes with the device category and with the name of the device as well so that you can control your pairing options accordingly. Also, there’s a switch now who allows you to dismiss or pair the nearby Bluetooth devices in one go.

6. Introducing Windows Hello Pin

With this update, you can secure your Windows PC with your Face unlock, pin, and fingerprint. You don’t need to write down the password every time while singing into your Windows account anymore. This feature will make your Windows 10 laptop more secure and password less to use. To enable this feature just search for “sign-in options” by using the search box and make a tick on “allow Windows Hello Sign-in for Microsoft Accounts” option and you’re ready to go.

Though, fingerprint and face unlock options depend on your system hardware. Your system must have a fingerprint scanner and front camera to use this passwordless feature of the latest Windows 10 update.

7. Few Major Enhancements on Notepad

Windows notepad is the most useful and important digital text editor for years. And in this 2020 update, we’re already expecting few changes in this as well. Here the changes that have been done in Windows notepad:

  • Text zooming –Now you can zoom-in and zoom-out the written text with the help of cursor.
  • Line the numbers with word-wrap – Finally, this change has been also added in the updated notepad. Now, you can line the numbers by activating word-wrap.
  • A modified indicator –(*) This sign will show up to you if you would not save the changes that you made in your notepad. Just to remind you about saving the edits.
  • Sending feedback –You have an option now to send your feedback to the concerned team. Just go the help section and write your feedback or review regarding the notepad that will be sorted as soon as the team gets into it.

8. Can Rename Your Virtual Desktops Names

With this feature you can rename your desktops names instead of “Desktop 1” and “Desktop 2” as whatever you want to name it. You can also insert emoji to your desired names to make your computer more personal as you are.

To edit the virtual names of your desktops you need to follow below steps:
